Dealing With Banks
First rule of dealing with banks, they are interested in their bottom line more than your own. Your own bottom line is YOUR business.
While that is the case, you must also remember, without customers the bank has no bottom line. You do have a right to expect fair treatment and terms or you can take your business elsewhere. The only way that will matter to a bank, however, is if you are a worthy customer.
Do you always have money in the bank? Banks don't find you a worthy customer if you are constantly overdrawn in your balance. It costs them money upfront, but the real kicker is it costs YOU more money and the banks profit from it. Banks will work with customers that have a comfortable balance, but will give you a hard time if you are always overdrawn.
Do you have more than a thousand? Dollars, pounds, euros, it doesn't matter. A thousand seems to be the magic number. Any less they treat you like a pauper and THEY are doing YOU a favor by keeping your paltry amount of money. Keep more than a thousand and chances are you will have lesser or no bank fees on the services.
Does something seem unfair? First go over your records to make sure you have it right. Then contact the bank customer care center and speak with someone, preferablly in person and in a calm demeanor. Explain your side and listen to what they have to say then try to work out a compromise. Unreasonable demands and threats will get you nowhere and unless you have millions in the bank, they won't budge on the threat, "I'll take my business to another bank."
If you get nowhere with the customer care, go to a supervisor. If you get nowhere with them, contact the bank president. If you get nowhere, then it is time to shop around for a new bank. If whatever they did wrong is so outrageous, contact the news and get publicity on your side.
