Baked Pears Recipe


Pears make a versatile base for desserts and beverage because it has a low taste factor and high sugar content. For this dessert, the key is the caramelization process which binds in the sweet juice crusted in from the sugar.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a baking dish, mix honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar until dissolved.

Cut pears in fourths from stem to base. Cut the center core out and dispose. Place the remainder of the pear in a baking dish. Make sure all pears are coated with the sweet juices. Cover dish with aluminum foil.

Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the pears are golden brown and tender.

This tastes great alone or even better as an ice cream topping.
