A Simple Mayonnaise Recipe


Mayonnaise is made by process of emulsion. The items of egg, oil, and lemon juice on their own will not bond. They need to be in a state of constant motion while they are bonding, so it is crucial you will not be distracted in this process. A blender with a pour through spout works best for this task.

In a blender, add the egg and put the setting on low until egg is slightly beaten then quickly add 1 teaspoon oil at a time beating well after each addition until 1/3 of the cup of oil has been added. Slowly pour in the rest of the oil while blending the mixture. Add a few drops lemon at a time while blending. The mixture should be quite thick and perfectly smooth.

Leave at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours then refrigerate for up to 1 week.
