Origin Of Holidays - The History of Veteran's Day

Worldwide, many countries have had an observance of the fallen unknown soldiers on November 11th each year. To be specific, a moment of observation to take place on the 11th month on the 11th day on the 11th hour starting at the end of World War I in 1918. This day was known as Armistice Day.
When Armistice Day was declared an official holiday in 1926 in the US, it was thought World War I would be the last major war. Unfortunately, war started all over again in Europe, even before the US soldiers took part official in World War II, many have died in battle already.
In 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill to honor all veterans, not just the unknown who died in WWI, to be observed each year on November 11 and it was called Veteran's Day.
In 1968, it was moved to the fourth Monday of October, but November 11 had more historical signifigance so in 1978 the date was switched back.
