[Disclaimer - I am a former member of the Jehovah's Witnesses having been raised in this religion. If you are a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, you probably will not want to read this section unless you are looking for answers.
To write articles as a journalist, one must approach the assignment with an open, unbiased mind. It may seem hard for some to detach when one is a former member, but I am completely over the experience.
I feel the information must be given to be fair about the beliefs of this organization and the people who follow this religion, although I strongly disagree with it, being a former member, can see the dangers in this religion and must also speak out about it as well. My intention is not to dispute them on their beliefs or to introduce them to a new faith. I just want the public at large to know what they believe and the potential dangers in the religion.
While I believe anyone who wishes to follow this faith has the right to do so, I also believe the history points to abuses of its members that need to be addressed. There are very many horror stories about this group you can find on the Internet. When there is smoke, usually there is fire. With that in mind, here is the story on the Jehovah's Witnesses, what they believe, the dangers, and the history of this religion.
This is not about hating Jehovah's Witnesses! I want to make it VERY clear I do not hate those who choose to follow this religion. My experience is obviously different from those who seem to thrive in this religion. However, if you were to do a search on the Internet, you will find MANY who have had similar negative experiences and this piece is to serve as a warning.]
