Set in Toronto Canada in a junior high school, Degrassi was about to launch a series that would spiral into two more spin offs featuring the same elements of teen angst and how to overcome typical problems.
Problems existed for these young students, but they were not quite as complex as things to come. The Junior High series involved teen pregnancy, child abuse, smoking, homosexuality, child molestation, depression, as well as everyday problems such as boys vs. girls, sibling rivalry, teacher/student relationships among all things.
