We meet Voula's father who is very "Old World" and has high values. He thinks his daughter is way too young to go to the dance. Voula respects his wishes at first, but as she thought of the idea for the school to sponsor a child, she asked the class to think of a fund raiser. It was suggested they charge a fee at the dance and all money made can go to the child. As Voula was unable to go, she insisted Stephanie, the school President, presents the check.
Lucy apparantly has "loose" parents who are absentee and let her do whatever she wants. Stephanie is surprised when she finds out Lucy's parents let her walk out of the house "dressed like that." [As if she's one to talk!] Stephanie asks for advice on boys and if it's okay to ask a boy out because she has a crush on Wheels. Lucy enlightens her that "it's the 80s" and of course it was fine.
It appears that Heather and Erika and Wheels have all been promoted to the same grade with Stephanie, Lucy and Voula in Ms. Avery's homeroom in grade 8.
Joey has an obvious crush on Stephanie and plans on inviting her to the dance. Wheels thinks she is a nice girl, but doesn't think he stands a chance. Stephanie approaches them and asks to speak to Wheels alone and invites him to the dance which makes Joey jealous.
Lucy talks to Voula and asks her why she can't present the check as it was her idea and Voula is embarassed, but tells her that her parents are old fashioned and come from a small village. Lucy insists she educates her parents as to the way things are and insists she comes to the dance.
Voula is looking for a way to let her dad go and tells him a lie that she has a meeting at school on a Saturday night which has to do with the adopted child. He worries, but as it was for a good reason he allows her to go with a strict curfew.
Voula shows up at Lucy's house to change for the dance. Eventually, it seems many girls got the invite to change at Lucy's because the twins and Stephanie are also at her home to change into clothes for dancing. They love her home, but Lucy complains it's not as great as the place they left in Manhattan. Voula leaves because she still is mad at Stephanie.
While waiting for the dance, the girls spot Lucy's parents' liquor supply. Lucy says it's okay because her parents are "loose". [Talk about severe parental neglect!] The girls get wasted while Lucy watches.
Wheels is waiting for Stephanie while Joey taunts him that he was stood up. Voula is there and dances with Arthur. We also see Joey dancing with Caitlin [if you kept up with the series to the Next Generation, this might be meaningful to you.] Eventually, the girls show up making fools of themselves. Stephanie embarasses herself in front of Wheels and gets sick having to rush to the bathroom [hmmm, didn't we see this scene again in DTNG with Terri?]
As the girls help Stephanie who is in pain on the bathroom floor encouraging her to snap out of it as she has to present the money soon, she insists she can't. Lucy has a great idea. She rushes to find Voula who is about ready to leave as it was already past her curfew. Lucy shows her Stephanie who is in no condition to present the check and presents the check because she has no choice...meanwhile her father pulls up to the school...Voula presents the check and gives the speech and sees her very angry father in the audience who pulls her off the stage as she finished speaking. Someone's in big trouble!
Stephanie feels bad and plans to apologize to everyone in the morning. [DTNG with Ashley who had remorse after taking drugs.]
