2-03. Great Expectations

Liz is in the school office with her mother to enroll [although if you noticed the first episode, she was already there] and complaining about the last school which was good. Liz thinks everyone at school is too preppy taking note of Stephanie who just walked in as an example. Her mom reminds her of the promise to give it a fair chance. Joey is just coming out of the principal's office and the secretary introduces him to Liz O'Rourke who would be in his class and asks to show her around. He gets her to grin. He asks if she wants to go out.

The next day, Wheels, Joey and Snake talk about their band as they see Liz walking up alone. Joey asks what they think of her and they both think she is weird and too quiet. Joey says she talks to him because he is irresitable. Liz turns her head and smiles at him and asks if they think she "does it" because he heard stuff about her and asks if they ever really thought about having sex. They said sometimes and Joey says all the time.

Arthur is reading an anatomy book and hides it when Yick comes in the room. Yick says he has been acting weird lately. Arthur confides in him about his wet dreams and fears he is becoming a sex maniac.

Alex runs through the hallway trying to talk to Stephanie about his ideas for the budget, but she brushes him off and says she will talk to him later about it and ducks into the girls' room. She finds Spike in there who is complaining she is getting fat, but Stephanie tells her she doesn't think so. Stephanie makes her transformation and Spike says she thought she wasn't going to dress that way any more. Stephanie says she is going to make Simon notice her. Liz steps out of the stall and the girls stop talking as they stare down each other. Liz starts to leaves and asks what they are staring at. Stephanie makes a smart aleck comment on how she loves her hair while Liz says at least she doesn't have to change in the girls' restroom because she is too scared of her mother. As Liz walks out, Stephanie calls her a sleaze and says she bets she "does it" then remembers about Spike's condition and says not like her because she just made a mistake. Stephanie says she heard she moved from her last school because of something that had to do with sex. Spike complains that people who look different always get stories made up about them. Stephanie bets it's true because Liz dresses provacative [not like her, of course!]

In Mr. Raditch's class and gives them an assignment where the class must pair up. Heather and Erica talk to Stephanie about her plans with Simon and she says wait and see. Joey asks Liz to be his partner and she agrees to meet him in the resource center after school. Stephanie, Heather and Erica lie in wait for Simon to approach as Alex tries to get Stephanies attention about a fund raiser. They try to shoo him away before Simon approaches. He doesn't take the hint and Simon starts to walk by. She drops her books trying to get Simon's attention, but Alex drops down to pick them up as Simon and BLT walk away. Alex keeps on talking about his ideas as Stephanie and Heather and Erica walk away upset and wonders what he did wrong.

Yick and Arthur are on the stairs outside the school eating lunch as Yick thinks it might be normal to have a lot of wet dreams. Arthur is embarassed and asks him to keep it down. Arthur asks how many Yick has had, but Yick has not had any yet. He wished he could talk to someone about it and Yick suggests his dad, but he says he can't do that.

Spike notices Liz sitting alone and asks if she could sit next to her. Spike asks what she thinks of Degrassi and she says the kids are so snobby. Spike tells her they are okay once you get to know them. Liz asks if it is true that she is pregnant. Spike confirms it and Liz claims she is never going to get pregnant. Spike asks where she was before and Liz says Linden which was great as she had lots of friends there and no one cared how you dressed. She says when she is 16 she swears she is going to move back. Wheels, Snake, Joey and BLT are playing ball. Joey brags how he will make it with Liz. He thinks "chicks are like asprin, you take two and go to bed." They mock him and his record with girls and claim nothing will happen and even if she did make a move he would be scared off. He is all talk and no action. Melanie talks about the menstrual cycle and Kathleen asks how she knows so much about it. Melanie mentions the Doctor Sally show, "Talking Sex With Sally" where teens can call in and asks any question about sex. Kathleen thinks that's disgusting. Yick asks Melanie when's it on and if anyone can call. Arthur wants him to shut up, but Melanie tells him it is on tonight and anyone can call and asks why. He says he doesn't have a problem, just a friend. Liz and Joey are studying, but Joey is distracted telling her he likes her hair and is busy flirting with her. Since they didn't get a lot done, she invites Joey over to her house finish. Joey is excited. Liz leaves and brags to Snake and Wheels that he is going over to Liz's house after school. Yick and Arthur talk about calling Doctor Sally and make arrangements to do it. Neither want to do it at their home. Yick suggest a phone booth nearby. Stephanie, Heather and Erica talk about ensnaring Simon again. Stephanie says instead of playing dumb games, she is going to ask him out. Erica asks what if Simon just really likes Alexa. Heather discounts that idea. Simon approaches and as Stephanie tries to talk to him, Alex approaches and tells Simon to hurry up and change for the game. Simon leaves before Stephanie can finish talking to him and Stephanie gives Alex the evil eye while the twins laugh. As they leave school for the day, Liz is walking out with Joey and hands him a paper with her address, warning him the place isn't all that nice as they just moved in. Joey runs off as he has stuff to do. Liz catches Spike go by and talks to her and asks what she thinks of Joey. Spike says he can be a bit of a jerk, but he's okay. Liz says she thinks she likes him because he's funny and nice Joey catches up to Wheels to ask about the condoms he bought last year and if he could borrow them, but Wheels reminds them they used them all for water balloons. He asks if Wheels wants to go to the store to buy them with him, but Wheels says he has to study. He asks when he and Stephanie were close to doing it if he was nervous. Wheels said he was. Joey says he's afraid of messing up and Wheels says maybe he shouldn't do this. Joey thinks he needs to do it because he is 14, in the 8th grade and has never had a real date before. Wheels asks what if she doesn't really want to do it. He thinks she does because of the way she dresses, she laughs at his jokes and she invited him over that it's obvious. Wheels doesn't think so. Liz comes home filled with boxes stacked all over the place as her mother calls out a greeting. She lets her know a friend will be coming over because they are working on a project. Her mother disapproves because she does not want her to be alone in the house with a boy. Liz asks her to trust her, besides, it is so hard making friends at that school anyway. Her mom allows it since she is glad she is starting to make friends. Joey is at the drug store to buy condoms, but fills up a cart with many various items to hide his agenda [typical!] As he gets the condom, a man watches him. To divert the glance, he quickly picks up another box next to it, a box of tampons, and realizes what he has done then ditches it the first chance he gets. He gets in the queue and puts his items on the belt as the cashier greets him while the man and his wife who saw him with the condoms gets in line behind him. The clerk picks up the condoms and comments he thinks they are on special. He calls out on a microphone for a price check. Joey insists he doesn't mind paying full price. The manager comes up and they loudly discuss the price of the condoms. He gets dirty stares from everyone as he leaves the store. Yick and Arthur are inside a phone booth with the radio trying to catch Doctor Sally. They are surprised that as they listen to the topics and they could say it on the radio. Arthur then starts to make the call. Joey approaches Liz's house and puts down his sack of groceries and fishes out the condoms and knocks on her door. Liz offers him a drink and Joey accepts as he comments on what a nice place she has. Arthur starts to chicken out as Doctor Sally asks him to talk. Yick pulls the phone and asks her about wet dreams his friends are having then hangs up. Doctor Sally assures them he is not a pervert, but it is a natural thing. Liz is busy talking about the topic, but Joey's mind is on something else. Liz asks Joey what's up and Joey asks him if she wants to have sex. Liz is offended at the casual way he says he wants it and assumes she wants it. Liz kicks him out and is upset because she thought he was different and could trust him. The next day at school, Wheels asks Joey how it went. Joey tells him he really messed up and now Liz is really mad at him. He thinks the worst part is he messed up and he really likes her.
