Michael ends his relationship with David. When in a drugstore, Ted and Emmett see one of Ted's former lovers picking up a prescription that only someone who was HIV+ would get. Emmett encourages Ted to get tested for AIDS and goes with him to get the test. Emmett, who is the most careful person with sex, worries when the doctor doesn't get right back with the results and thinks he might have AIDS when the doctor asks him back to the office. Emmett makes a pact with God that if he does not have HIV he will never have sex again. Debbie is mad at Brian for stopping Michael from moving on with his life and wants him to do something. Brian throws Michael a surprise 30th birthday party where he invites all his friends including David and the co-worker who is in love with Michael. Brian introduces David to Michael's co-worker as Michael's boyfriend and she runs out humiliated and devastated. David is embarrassed and punches Brian out. The party is over.
